Sturdiness

This grill worked great for my trip with the guys. When broken down, it takes up very little space. You don't need any tools to assemble it, and it was easy to level the grill by shifting the legs around. The chain mechanism that holds the grill and allows for height adjustment held very well. The only thing that would bring down the score for me (if it had been a more expensive piece) is the looseness of the legs. The legs break down in sections like a tent pole, but the connection points aren't very snug, so when you lift a leg to adjust it, the joints start to come undone. Once it's in place and set up, this is not an issue, and it wasn't a big enough deal to drop the rating.

I was hesitant on purchasing this but boy I'm glad I did. I bought it to hang a lantern mostly so I don't have to hang it from a limb of a tree and have a shadow of unlit area of our campsite.  It's easy to assemble and breakdown is flawless as well. It's super sturdy and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone for the purpose of hanging a lantern.

Good purchase

Coleman's camping tripod is very handy!  We use it camping all the time.  It's very durable and we use it for grilling, hanging pots to cook, hang lights on it, anything!  It's a piece of camping equipment we can't live without.

Perfectly fine if you set it up correctly. It is a bit fragile, but sturdy enough. Tip 1: To be able to smoothly raise and lower the grill, there is a certain way that the center chain (the grill chain) is supposed to be fed through the top piece, but the instructions don't tell you that. One of the holes is closer to one of the legs, and that leg needs to be the that has the lever.  Tip 2: Make sure that the triangular center piece (that hold the legs at the top) sits in between the two latching springs at the top of each leg. It is very easy for it to slip past both springs.

The tripod is sturdy, you must get legs correct to distribute weight. That is easily done by just visually spacing the legs with a pyramid design.

If you only camp every so often, this tripod is fine. Easy to set up, and breaks down to a very manageable size. If you camp a lot, this may be a little to light duty for you.

OK for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this grill to cook over camp fire.  It was an awesome buy.  The price was great.  I was able to swing the grill over the fire to cook the food more evenly even when the fire wasn't evenly distributed.  Couple of things they could improve on.  When you take the 3 way chain off, the chain that holds the grill just falls out of the hold due to the weight distribution.  The grill itself could be a little better quality.  And couple of times, I had to move quickly to prevent the tripod from falling over.
For the price, this grill did the job and more.

Used it for the first time for a camping weekend & 2 of the 3 tripod legs fell apart bc the cord inside seemingly frayed from the heat of the fire….that this was made to cook over. One happened within 60m of using it for the first time and the second broke the next day. Not sure how this would've been avoided besides it having poor materials.
