First Sony tv I have bought and have to say after three and a half years of use it has been an exceptionally joy to watch. The picture and sound quality are excellent definitely no need for a soundbar. Sony now on for me.

Bought the 43" X80J couple of weeks ago, excellent quality picture, always great colour immersion from Sony, not fantastic for gaming but i don't game, great refresh rate, great picture from extreme angles, google works quickly and accurately, all apps and smart commands are fast, Sony quality feel to TV and remote, annoyed at lack of usual catch up channels such as iplayer itvhub all4 etc, but spoke to Sony who were immensely helpful, they explained that the problem lies with a third party and all catch up channels will be available by the end of the year, via a software update, meanwhile i just cast from my phone, all together very happy with the set and would recommend highly.

Sony quality

We have owned several Sony TVs over the years and have loved every one of them. Our latest purchase the X80J 4K Ultra HD 75" tv is amazing. We were a little hesitant to purchase, because of the amazing price...seemed too low for a Sony TV. We are AMAZED at the quality of this TV. The picture is fantastic...very clear with bright colors and deep black. The smart aspect was very easy to setup and use...even for us "older" folks. The sound was better than we expected too. I would highly recommend this affordable TV

Sony Does It Again

The TV has more features than we really need. We are pleased that we have been able to hook up cable, OTA antenna, and a DVR with not a lot of trouble. However, it would have been much easier had the TV come with an instruction book like previous TVs we've owned. The connection for the DVR not being the standard three white, yellow, red, RCA jacks set us back some. It seems that the jack required is not that easy to find. Again, my biggest complaint is the lack of instruction book. I didn't even find a PDF version let alone a printed one in the box. Having to page through settings with nothing more than a TV remote and no idea if what I want to do is available does not make setup easy.

Could use written instructions

I was happy with it when I got it especially with the great video quality at its price point.  This tv was to be mainly used by my elderly parents.  I really wanted to love it, however, I was not aware that it would not work with the Xfinity app and that it doesn't have its own web browser. The web browser that was downloaded wasn't up to par against webOS on my LG tv. I like that it had a dedicated YouTube button, which my parents often use.  All in all, it's a good tv which probably has a workaround for my gripes, but I didn't have the patience to go about it at the time. I'll definitely pick up another model in the future.

Our old Sony TV died after about 15years so needed a new one! Chose it because it was Sony and had the screen size we wanted. We did not know much about the features available, assumed it would do all the modern things, but have not been able to work out how to get BBC player or ITV Hub. Would really like to have a proper book of instructions suitable for non-technically minded pensioners!

Nice new TV

Cannot get rid of all the subscription TV shows it prominently displays.  All I want is the (free) services I choose, but no option for that.
Also, none of the standard UK Freeview catch-up services available yet (except My5) - NOT good enough at all Sony!

Very disappointed with "smart" features

I bought this thinking it was Iplayer ready, but no it was not. Problems with licencing. I was so close to packing it up and returning it. Apart from that, had problems with the voice sync to a sony soundbar, which might be solved now with the help of the technical department.

SONY BRAVIA KD50X80JU 50"

So this is a Google TV and I am having difficulties, or completely unable to, download BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, etc. and I am somewhat forced to use strictly Google apps or Apple TV. This is disappointing. 

The TV is thick at the back from top to bottom unlike many TVs where it is thinner towards the top end. This did cause some difficulties when mounting to the wall. Granted this may not be the fault of the product.

I also have poor signal for watching TV channels digitally. I assume this is most likely an issue with the aerial but I would have also assumed a TV of this quality would still be able to pick up a good picture.

So far OK

I bought this years ago so not sure why I get a review request now but I have had issues with it since purchase. Often the screen will flash a blinking white screen and I dont know the cause or the fix but a day or 2 later it will be fine. There are already dead pixels that have resulted in a black spot about a foot long across the middle of the screen but I guess for the amount of money you pay for a Sony TV that should be expected. I have had to factory reset countless times. Sometimes it just freezes and doesnt respond at all
