Features a range of intricate building techniques.

The finished building is absolutely beautiful and holds together very well even while it's being opened and closed. Construction combines artistic brick building with fascinating details and Technic style engineering with cams and other moving parts.

A gorgeous set that was a blast to build!

LEGO

My boyfriend had gotten this for me as a Christmas gift and I enjoyed every minute building it. I had forgotten how much fun it was building legos so as anyone could imagine it was enjoyable for me build this set. 

The details within the build are simply outstanding. The mechanism of the build expanding truly took me by surprise. I had shown my family members of its functionality and they were surprised by it. I adore that the instructions to the build have MK as a way to show progress while building the set. It really warms my heart to see the little guy at the bottom of each page. I had posted a slideshow of it fully built on my tiktok account out of excitement that I had finished building it. 

I really enjoyed building this and cannot wait for the next Lego build I get my hands on!

Very fun to build, 10/10 recommend getting!!

This is a story I loved outside of lego. When lego brough it on I knew the moment they released a set to mirror the Jade Palace I was going to get it. The detail in this set is second to none. The use of clouds actually takes you to a different place.

The Detail

I think this is one of the prettiest sets available at the moment. I loved all the colors used and the vinyl clouds in white and gold are a great touch.

The minifigure prints are also really nice, with detailed leg prints for most of the figures. The traditional style hanfu in lego print form are really beautiful, and I hope Lego makes more variety available in future sets as well. (And maybe even for the upcoming minfigure factory?)

I especially loved the attention to details. When i built Taishang Laojun's hand accessory, I realized that it was a horse tail whisk! Amazing!

It's very impressive once built, and looks great on display.

Amazing

Another amazing set from the Monkie Kid range, and a joy to build. Lots of variation, with some tricky bits and plenty of detail but also 'classic' big-brick builds so you're never bored. Everything comes together so well as you build it and then at the end when the elements are put together. It looks lovely and the minifigures are lots of fun. A set this big and detailed at this price is a bargain.

Heavenly

Monkie Kid is my favorite sub-theme of Lego. The building techniques as well as the imaginative and creative concepts for this theme are unlike any other. This set did not disappoint and was a lot of fun to build; keeping me interested from start to finish.

My one critique, and this carries throughout the theme, is that I often feel a little left in the dark with some of the concepts and placards. Before being introduced to Monkie Kid I had never heard of Journey to the West. Since being introduced I have started reading the stories. I love that LEGO has introduced me to new things. It is what keeps me coming back for more. I love that the beginning of the instructions to this set gives a little bit of back story to the build. But I do wish, like in other sets like NASA Space Shuttle Discovery 10283, we could get a cliff note here and there. Something as simple as explaining that Taishang Laojun's accessory is a horse tail, and not a white flame which was my thought. And if nothing more, simply a translations of the placards and stickers would be amazing. (My phone is translating the gate sticker as “Gate Gate”) So much time and energy is spent by your creators capturing the details. Why not showcase it by including us all. 

This sub-theme is wonderful; the best really. But sadly due to poor sales in the US it is only available online now. I really feel that the downfall here is making it feel more niche when it could be well inclusive. LEGO is a learning toy. As a 40 year old man LEGO continues to inspire me. I may be a little greedy here, but I just want a little more.

Wanting more please, ¿Say What?

For fans of Monkey King and Monkie Kid, this set depicts iconic scenes that bring to life in Lego form some of Monkey King's most memorable blunders and acts of mischief in the heavenly realm. Minfigures of Erlang Shen, Baosheng Dadi, and kid Nezha are great to get in a set like this! Also the price per piece ratio is great for a set with so many intriguing design elements.

Husband loves the original Monkey series, he loved the build. Set looks great when built.

Monkey magic

Was very fun to build, loved some of the techniques used, like the top of the tree garden's gate being all curvy. Super sturdy for easy transport, also a plus!

Amazing Set!

Reading all these reviews, I'm surprised no one said anything about the exposed technic beams taking away the beautiful esthetic of this set. Once opened, so many technic holes are exposed! I much rather not have the opening & closing feature if that meant you'll see so many technic beams being exposed. Otherwise, I love the intricate details of the mini figures!
