I Loved building this beautiful Disney Lego Castle, I Absolutely LOVE Disney and I Absolutely LOVE Legos ever since I was a little girl sometimes my mom would build with me also, but this Lego set I built myself with a little help from my mom since some of the instructions were a little bit confusing, and some parts were hard to put together I started building on Tuesday the 22nd and finished on Sunday the 27th It was really fun to build and is exciting and beautiful to look at

Absolutely Stunning and Extremely Detailed

Wowee, what a fun and rewarding build! This is the set I always dreamed of, and now it's a reality in my living room! The model is huge, and the inclusion of nods to many Disney films is a nice touch. I was expecting a feature that would allow Tinkerbell to "fly," but, since there wasn't one, I got creative. (If you are able to get your hands on an "extension/puppeteering" brick [such as included in 2002's "1380 Lego Studio Werewolf Ambush], which is thin, clear, and approximately 3.5 inches long, you can attach one end to the large turret and slip the "pointed" end into one of Tink's feet, and presto, Tink appears to soar over the lower portion of the castle!) Now, if the Lego engineering team would design the BACK half of the castle (of course including additional rooms alluding to other Disney movies), my dreams would by fulfilled! Thank you, Lego, SO much for making this set - it's AWESOME!

MAGICAL!

Wow! This is set is pretty amazing. I would classify this as an expert set and definitely more of a collectors item then a toy, but if you and or kids are up for the build, it is a pretty amazing setting for some great imaginative play for your children and of course us adults who still act like children too haha! 

The build:
It is NOT easy to build and will probably take at least several days, even if you are highly experienced. It has over 4,000 pieces and they are not all simple, straightforward pieces. The instructions seriously look like a small novel! So just know ahead of time that this set is going to take a very long time to assemble, but it's totally worth it and very cool as you begin to construct it.

The characters:
I was honestly shocked that this castle does not come with Cinderella. I'm sure there's some sort of weird licensing conflict with Disney and LEGO that prevented it. There is another Cinderellas LEGO castle, the "romantic" castle that you may have seen. So maybe they didn't want to kill sales of that set or something. We are lucky enough to have that castle as well, so we have the Cinderella mini-figure which we can use in addition to the Tinker Bell, Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, and Donald that you get with this set. Besides the Cinderella mystery, the characters that come with the set are really cool and great additions to our collection!

Today we assembled the entire base of the castle (as seen in our speed build video) and we plan to have the rest of the castle built over the next few days. So far, it's really cool and has tons of nice details. We will update this review once we have built more of the set or completed it!

HUGE and AWESOME! Totally worth it for LEGO collec

When I first saw this advertised, I knew I had to have it, being the big Disney fan that I am. However, when I saw the price, it did put me off abit, but then I asked my partner to part buy it me for Xmas and I put the rest in. Problem solved! 
Having not played with Lego since I was a kid, it was a bit daunting to see all the bags and the thickness of the manuel, but once I got organised and started building it, I actually found it quite easy to build. It took around 14 hrs to build, though I did it over several weeks, spending a few hrs at a time on it. 
The attention to detail is amazing. The picture on the box does not do it justice. I love all the film references, the secret compartment and being able to shoot 'fireworks' , though watch where they land as they do shoot out quite fast and being so small, can easily get lost.
Only had one disaster..lost the transfer for the mirror so had to improvise and use some shiny silver card which I think looks quite nice. You can probably request a new transfer though. 
The only downside for me was not enough figures. For the price, I would have loved a few more characters, especially Cinderella, seeing as it's her castle. But I found some (unofficial) lego princesses on line quite cheap which I added to the castle (along with flowers) and plan to add more characters in the future. 
Overall, a joy to build and now has pride of place on my dining table. :)

A joy to build

I am a huge fan of Legos and Disney. So being able to bring the Disney Castle into my home through the fun of Legos has been fantastic! I spent about 16 full hours broken over a few days putting it together, and am amazed by all of the classic Disney movie "nods" in the castle details. Also, this Lego set truly is quite large (and heavy), so you'll want to find a spot to display it that doesn't require constant relocation. Mine is displayed on a stand in my great room, where it is all lit up in anticipation of the upcoming holidays!

Magical Building Fun

This set is a major one, and every serious LEGO builders should have it. Very massive, heavy, beautifully done. However, I would have like to get more minifigs with this colossal set. A few more characters that are important to the Walt Disney universe. But the major problem here, is the many many many missing pieces. What is happening to LEGO ? More and more big sets are missing several pieces. LEGO should take a serious look in their factories. Especially the factory who is making the sets for North America. Read the comments and reviews on this site but also on forums and socia lnetworks. More and more sets are missing a lot of pieces...........

A masterpiece, with many missing pieces......

Looks great, but for playing a lot of the sections are fragile.For example, the knights fall off easily, they should have friction technic peg because the shields keep falling over, and the very top section crumbles easily.

Also the ever-stated problem of too many stickers over the years.

I love this set!! The only reason I gave it a three was beacause I had to order quite a few bricks to complete it. My set was missing some bricks. I understand it can happen, but for the price it is a little fusterating that I had to spend more because my set was incomplete. But I still love me some lego and Disney!!

Missing Bricks

In the past, I have been pleased with the durability of the constructs, allowing children to play and move props and characters around. The haunted house construct I built 3 years ago continues to stand allowing children that come to my office to play and interact with it.

The castle, however is a different story. It made a beautiful Christmas display, but even my 6 year old granddaughter was afraid to play with it, noting the rocking of the tower whenever she tried to move something. The tower has a tendency to topple off the balcony base, breaking up in the fall.

I would recommend more joining blocks to attach the tower to the balcony base. I plan on buying these blocks and replacing the smooth blocks with joining blocks. Not sure this will be enough to keep it together when played with but worth a try after all that work.

If the piece is for display only, I would recommend it. Just don't let children get at it!
