I see a lot of negative reviews but no one explains their applications which would be very helpful. I really like this product. I use it for small tasks such as, fixing nail holes and small cracks on dry wall. I also use it in place of wood putty on molding I'm going to paint. The light weight "fluffy" texture fills nail holes and minor gaps much easier than wood putty. I use a dry or slightly damp paper towel to shape and smooth my work. This avoids having to do a final sanding. Then I use a wetter paper towel to clean everything else. I've had very good luck using this product this way.

I am so surprised to see all the negative reviews on this product. I have used this for years and love it. I was out and afraid I wouldn't be able to find it and I was so happy that DAP still makes this. I have never had a problem with it drying or sanding it. I've used it for nail holes, small cracks, and big cracks, places where trim joints don't match perfectly and I don't know what all. Everything really, it's great!

Love this product

I don't know why there's so many negative reviews as I really love this product becasue it works really well for what it's intended for - finishing and final repair coats on drywall before final light sanding and painting. I find this product saves me from having to deal with large amounts of sanding dust that is generated when you are forced to use other heavier spackling compounds or drywall compounds, especially in situations where it's unnecessary and all you're trying to do is fix a small imperfection. This will save you time and energy if used in the right way. It's also possible that the people that left negative reviews are perhaps not closing the lid tightly enough and letting the product dry out or something? Like honestly, this works as intended and fills a much needed gap in the products I use for drywall repair.

Fills a Much Needed Gap for Drywall Repair!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We just moved into an older home and started renovating. Of course there are nail holes galore and a small dip in the ceiling where it looks like someone hit a broom handle into it. Thats what I used this stuff for. Its a great formula. It had to hang and dry without dripping and it did that! If filled and smoothed nail holes with ease. Not a single clog. This tube will last a long time, and I will be able to come back with a clean tip because of the cover.

An all in one product!

Have read many of the reviews, Fast and Final would be for small jobs. Correct ambient temperature. Though I do use it for large jobs, drying time depends on how much product you use. No matter my job, I always wait 24hrs.I also prime anyway, looks much better. I've used Dap products for years. I'm retired and do not work for them.

Very good products.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really loved using the DAP Fast and Final speckling. I had a few surfaces in my kitchen as well as my bathroom that needed to be sealed. I think this is a great product for small areas like around the sink and tub. It dries fast and is not chunky. Definitely something I will use often.

No Clumps

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I love the concept of this all in one product, the putty knife is disappointing. I found it hard to apply the spackling cleanly with this putty knife and therefore it didn't do as great a job as I was hoping for. You can see in my photo that it missed a spot and I believe that's because the putty knife does not have a tapered edge to it. The spackling does seem good and dries fast so I would definitely use that again. Unfortunately I won't be using the knife that is built-in. I am interested to see over the next couple of weeks if this dries out or if I'm able to go back and use it again later as it seems most spackling I've tried doesn't have a long shelf life after opening.

Love the concept, needs a little tweak

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried to fill holes where an old shower rod was attached. On the first try, the side where the compound comes out, I kept having to use my finger to get it away from the area around the tube. I would then flip it over to smooth it out but you couldn't do a 45 degree angle or the groove would get in the way. Much easier to use a small can and a putty knife.

Not Worth It

Tried to use this to smooth out a textured finish wall. After 4 days it is still soft and rubbery. I purchased based on the label...Fast. Actually just the opposite. After removal and re-application with something else, what was once a quick spackle and repaint has turned into a week long ordeal. Should have purchased the normal DAP spackle. Never have had an issue with it.

Neither fast not final

I've always used DAP caulks and spackles for home repair jobs so it's a surprise to be so disappointed in one of their products. Fast 'n Final is an awful product. It does shrink. It can't be sanded because it rolls into little rubbery balls. I tried wet wiping the dried surface and it washes almost entirely away. I did the best I could on my old window moldings and now that I'm painting I wished I'd just wiped it all off and started over with regular DAP spackle. My primer paint (Kilz latex) is moistening the dried spackle enough to drag it out of the repaired spots mixed with paint. I've given up and will finish the job as is knowing that the drapes will cover most of the molding. After a few months of long term drying I will sand and re-spackle the lumpy spots and start over from that point.

This is the worst spackle I have ever tried.
